A Tribute to a Pioneer in CardiologyDr. Yaffe earned a place in history as a pioneer in cardiology, having carried out most of his work at Hamilton General Hospital, a distinction of which we are extremely proud. One of his most notable accomplishments took place in 1952, when he performed Hamilton’s first cardiac catheterization. Dr. Yaffe would go on to help develop new diagnostic techniques in cardiology, and was instrumental in establishing a full-fledged cardiac surgical program at The General.
Dr. Yaffe was a visionary, a man who willingly shared his ideas, methods and passion with the next generation of cardiologists. His dedication and commitment were an inspiration to the cardiologists at Hamilton Health Sciences and across the country.
