The doors are open, but our work is far from over.
Following the completion of the first phase of construction, the new Juravinski Hospital officially opened its doors on August 3, 2010.
This redeveloped space, which features a 60 per cent larger emergency department, expanded Intensive Care and Diagnostic Imaging units, as well as nine new operating rooms and a cancer therapy suite, has significantly increased the Hospital’s overall capacity.
While enabling enhanced patient care and support for the Cancer Centre and Orthopedics programs, new medical and surgical equipment is necessary to equip these spaces and provide top-quality care for patients.
Because hospital equipment is not funded by the province, the Foundation has taken the lead in raising the necessary funds to help equip and furnish the new five-storey building.
Funds raised will support the needs of five key Hospital units:
- Oncology
- Hematology
- Orthopedics (priority for 2013)
- Diagnostic Imaging (priority for 2014-2015)
- Intensive care (priority for 2015-2016)
