Maggie Zhang is the recipient of this year’s Grant I. Budden Scholarship Award. This annual grant is awarded to a St. Peter’s nursing student who is pursuing additional training in gerontology.
The award, named in honor of a former St. Peter’s employee who had a deep appreciation for the level of care at the Hospital, is presented annually at the Nurses Tea during National Nursing Week.
Maggie works at St. Peter’s in the Complex Continuing Care Unit and this grant will help her pursue her calling.
“Nursing as a profession requires ongoing education in order to support our practice,” says Maggie. “St. Peter’s Hospital has a tradition of supporting employees for their professional development. This award is an excellent example of how staff are encouraged to further their education. I feel fortunate as this award offered me help financially. It motivates me to pursue ongoing learning so I will be able to gain my nursing knowledge in greater depth and breadth.”
The education that Maggie is pursuing will have a tremendous impact on her patients at St. Peter’s who will benefit from her knowledge and enhanced level of care.
