Expert Advice Helps Donor Pay Tribute to Dad

Fourteen years ago, Deborah Chamberlain’s father, Hadley, was diagnosed with late-stage prostate cancer. Even now, the moment she heard his prognosis is seared into her memory.

The advanced state of his cancer meant that surgery was not an option and he was referred to Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre for an aggressive radiation and chemotherapy regimen. “Sadly the cancer was too advanced and we were told he had less than a year to live,” recalls Deborah. “Two months later he was gone. I was devastated.”

Carnevale Inspired Fundraiser to Support Patients with Blood Cancers

HAMILTON, March 12, 2013 – On  May 11, 2013 Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre Foundation will host Carnevale Venice – the 12th annual Hummingbird Ball. The black-tie fundraiser will celebrate the history and culture of the Carnevale, and will feature intricately designed masks, delectable Venetian cuisine and period inspired decor.

Those in attendance honoured Dr. John G. Kelton, a leading hematologist, researcher, academic, and the Dean and Vice-President of the Faculty of Health Sciences and Dean of the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine at McMaster University.

Mike Weir Miracle Golf Drive for Kids Comes to Hamilton, June 23 & 24

HAMILTON, Feb. 6, 2013 - Golf enthusiasts will have the opportunity to rub shoulders with Canadian golf great, Mike Weir at the Mike Weir Miracle Golf Drive for Kids in support of McMaster Children’s Hospital Foundation, June 23 and 24, 2013.

The prestigious two-day event will be held at the scenic Hamilton Golf and Country Club, and will feature a tournament, breakfast, lunch and dinner at the Club. As a special bonus, golfers will have the chance to pick up tips to improve their game at a clinic instructed by Mike Weir.

Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation’s Annual Research Gala will be held  March 2, 2013 at the Hamilton Convention Centre. This year’s fundraising gala has guests stepping into the theatre for “A Night on Broadway” where they will enjoy live performances by Steven Page, formerly of the Barenaked Ladies, other theatrical guests, and by request, a return of the Montreal Rhapsody Orchestra.

Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation marked 25 years of philanthropic support to Hamilton Health Sciences at a donor appreciation event held November 27 at Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre.
