A wide range of support is available to individuals at various stages of their careers and includes scholarships, awards and bursaries for education and research initiatives. We also provide grants for items that fall outside of regular hospital budgets.

The JHCC Foundation Education Grants Program supports education and training opportunities for staff, patients and the public to improve the overall quality and capacity of the cancer program. Full-time or part-time employees of JHCC are eligible to apply.
Eligible Programs and Projects:
• Professional Development (courses, conferences, specialized training) - up to $3,000 in funding
• Masters Degrees or Higher Education - up to $5,000 in funding
• Undergraduate Degrees (in related field) - up to $3,000 in funding
• Education Projects (patient education, public education or team development with specific program outcomes for pilot or one-time projects) - up to $25,000 in funding
Available Funding:
In support of education and training opportunities, professional development and education projects for all staff/departments.
• The Robert and Murray Burns Education Award in support of continuing education for staff - $2,000
• The Virginia Hardy Education Staff Research Award in support of research projects for all staff - $3,000
• The Steve Hopkins Bursary for Hematology Care in support of ongoing educational and professional development opportunities for hematology staff - $2,000
• The Dianne Lee Memorial Bursary in support of radiation therapists - $500
• The Douglas E. St. John Education Award in support of palliative care nurses - $2,000
*Funding from the General Education fund may be offered in addition to a Named Award.

The JHCC Foundation Research Grants Program awards funding annually to research projects that demonstrate compatibility with the Juravinski Cancer Program's priorities.
Available Funding:
Projects that will generate data to support the development of larger applications to peer reviewed funding agencies. Ideally, these grants should support the development of novice or junior investigators. Projects must be completed within a 24 month period.
Substantive projects that address important research questions in one of three areas of research: Clinical Trial projects, Translational projects, or Quality of Care and Knowledge Translation projects. Projects must be completed within a 36 month period.
Funding from these awards are not in addition to, but are included as part of, the maximum award for a Research Development or Thematic grant.
• The Kuhn Award in support of research related to Hodgkin Disease or non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.
• The John Rogerson Jackson & Dorothea Marguerite Jackson Medical Research Fund in support of medical research in the field of oncology.
• The Carpenter Family Award in support of research in the area of Malignant Hematology and Leukemia research.
• The Hadley H. Chamberlain Endowment Fund in support of Prostate Cancer research.
• The BRIGHT Run Fund in support of Breast Cancer research.
Eligibility Criteria:
• The principal investigator must be involved in the Cancer Program at the JHCC (e.g. members of the department of Oncology at JHCC, members of a Disease Site Team, members of ECRI).
• The intent is to fund early career investigators (within 5-7 years of the start of their research programs) within interdisciplinary teams.
• The principal and/or co-principal investigator must not currently have an active JHCCF-funded grant.
• The project must involve research with clearly identified research questions or objectives and methodologies. Quality improvement projects are not eligible.

The SPACELABS Education Fund provides financial support to fund educational opportunities for Hamilton Health Sciences nurses and biomedical staff at Hamilton Health Sciences sites that use SPACELABS equipment. This Fund is made possible by the support of SPACELABS Healthcare (Canada) Inc, and is administered by Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation and the Spacelabs Evaluation Committee.
Eligibility: Full time or part time RN, RPN and Biomedical Engineering staff who are working within the units where Spacelabs monitors are used at one of the following sites: Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre, McMaster Children's Hospital or McMaster University Medical Centre. Staff who apply must have been with the Hospital for 6 months or 975 hours in the previous 12 months.
