A Night for Neil is the much-anticipated celebration to honour Neil Ellwood Peart, drummer of iconic Canadian band RUSH.

This celebration is a carefully crafted event assembled by Overtime Angels, Inc., a nonprofit organization. Proceeds from the event will support several health care foundations, including Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre Foundation.

Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Neil became RUSH’s drummer and primary lyricist, joining bandmates Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson in 1974. Neil’s drum solos were legendary. He spent more than four decades with the band.

In 1996, Neil, along with his bandmates, was made an Officer of the Order of Canada. In addition, they were recipients of the Governor General’s Award (2012), as well as being inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame (2010) and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (2013).

Sadly, after a three-year battle with glioblastoma, a form of brain cancer, Neil passed away on January 7, 2020. In recognition of Neil’s spirit, philanthropic nature, and his fight against cancer, Overtime Angel’s, Inc. has organized an unforgettable celebration in Neil’s honour.

Lance Kasten, Vice President of Overtime Angels, Inc., explains, “The event will honour ‘The Professor’ of words, lyricism, and musicianship from a fan’s perspective. The outpouring of support for this event from across the globe has been tremendous.”

The event takes place at the Meridian Centre in St. Catharines and will include memorial and celebratory segments guaranteed to touch the hearts of many. Performers include David Barrett, Brandon Dyke, Devah Quartet, Jacob Moon, Fleesh, and Rush Tribute Bands Solar Federation and Permanent Waves.
